Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa offered many things for our honeymoon stay – crystal blue water, soft white sand, elegant accommodations, expansive balconies, preferred club privileges and more. Did they deliver? We stayed at Dreams for three nights on our Mexico honeymoon and we are pleased to say the resort did not disappoint.
Where is the hotel located?
Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa is located at the tip of Punta Cancun, surrounded on three sides by the beautiful Caribbean Sea. The resort is located within walking distance to shops, restaurants and nightclubs.
What was our first impression when we arrived?
The entrance to Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa is simple and easy to locate, but more understated than others we’ve seen in Riviera Maya.
How easy was check-in?
Very! The employee who checked us in was extremely helpful and friendly, and even let us check into our room a little early.
Were we offered a room upgrade or any other complimentary perks?
We booked a Deluxe Ocean Front room with a king bed for two nights – we added on an additional night at the last minute and were upgraded to one of the best ocean-view rooms on the sixth floor of an ocean-facing tower. We also received a Mayan calendar as a honeymoon gift, plus $400 in resort coupons (for massages, etc.), which we didn’t really use.
How was the service throughout our stay?
The service was good throughout our stay – employees were friendly, but not as attentive as some other resorts we experienced in the area. We appreciated the nightly turn-down service – don’t be alarmed if you return at night to find your TV on (maid service will turn it on to the same channel every night).
What was our first impression of our room?
AMAZING! It was huge, complete with a bedroom, living room with eating area and microwave, full-size bath of course, and an expansive balcony with spa. A chilled bottle of champagne and fresh fruit were waiting in our room for us upon check-in as a celebratory gift for our honeymoon.
How was the view from our room?
In one word – incredible! Some of the bluest water and whitest sand we’ve ever seen. Postcard perfect.
And it only got more beautiful at night…
We also had this amazing spa on our balcony to enjoy the view from. Add a nice glass of wine or Caribbean cocktail from the private bar in the lobby of our tower and we were in heaven.
One note on room location – we would definitely request a room with ocean view – it’s well worth the extra money. We’d recommend against getting a room above the dolphinarium – it had a very distinct smell to it that was a little strong at times.
Beverages?
Check! Our room had a mini fridge stocked with bottled water, sodas and beer. although they were a smaller size. Coffee and coffeemaker were also available.
Wifi / Phone Charging Station?
Wifi is available for an additional fee. We couldn’t find any charging stations in the room, but we brought our own chargers of course, so all was good!
Food
The restaurants weren’t as impressive as other all-inclusive resorts we experienced in the Yucatan. Our tower did, however, have complimentary beverages and snacks available in the lobby all day, plus a private bar. Also, for those who like coffee, the Coco Cafe has the most amazing blended mochas. We’re not ashamed to say we visited them multiple times in one day to cool off from the Mexican heat.
Would we stay there again?
Definitely.
Would we recommend it to a friend?
Yes – we think you should check it out – and then let us know what you think!
