Hi all,
We drove up to Big Bear, CA with Todd’s family a few days after Christmas for some snowboarding and fresh mountain air. There wasn’t much snow on the ground (thanks to the 80 degree “winter” temps in SoCal), but there was plenty of powder at the ski resorts, and it was a gorgeous day for hitting the slopes at Snow Summit.
We started out on the bunny slopes since some of the people in our group hadn’t been snowboarding in a while and it was only my second time trying it. Todd’s been skiing black diamonds since he was in the single digits – yeah, he’s pretty much a crazy beast. I’m a little scared of heights and I consider it a successful day if I don’t have a panic attack while riding the chair lift.

After snowboarding, we checked into our cabin at Sleepy Forest Resorts, which was about a ten minute drive from Snow Summit. We rented the honeymoon suite, which was small, but came complete with a jacuzzi tub and wood-burning fireplace (who else loves the smell of burning campfires?).
The views in Big Bear are truly incredible!
Saturday night we checked out downtown Big Bear, which looked especially gorgeous and charming decked out with Christmas lights, trolley rides and horse-drawn carriages…
Hope you all had a very merry holiday season and that your 2014 is off to an exciting start!

Gorgeous, isn’t it? There wasn’t much snow when we went (only man-made snow at the resorts), but it was still beautiful! A great place to spend the holiday season!
